The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (LSMU) is a modern university founded in 2010 in Kaunas. It is the largest department of biomedical sciences in Lithuania. The university has a hospital, LSMU Hospital Kauno Klinikos on campus which is where 2,200 practicing physicians and 2,400 nursing staff look after patients. Students are given the opportunity to carry out their clinical studies here. The university has around 1,300 international students.

Study Medicine at the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences

The medical degree runs over six years and is available in Lithaunian and English. The course is structured with one foundation year, followed by two pre-clinical years and three years focused on clinical studies. Patient care, medical emergency care, professionalism and ethics are also highly emphasized in this course.

Kaunas is the second largest city in Lithuania and was the country’s capital during the interwar period and its name is thought to have derived from a personal first name. The city lies at the confluence of the two largest Lithuanian rivers, the Nemunas and the NerisThe first mention of the city was in 1361 when Kaunas castle was constructed. More recently, in 2002 a small planet was named after the city- 73059 Kaunas. The city has been selected as European Capital of Culture in 2022.
