Study Medicine at Semmelweis University

A medical degree at Semmelweis university involves a 12 semester training period (6,000 hours of teaching). The course is separated into two years of pre-clinical training followed by four years of clinical practice. The 12-semester training period covers at least 6,000 hours of teaching, which is divided into two parts. The first part consists of a two-year preclinical study period in the basic sciences; the second part is focused on clinical studies, and lasts for four years. The internship period takes place during the 11th and 12th semesters, and is generally spent at University clinics or hospitals.Semmelweis University is considered the largest provider of health care services in Hungary and so students undertake internships in their resident hospitals and clinics.

Budapest is Hungary’s capital city and was officially established in the 19th century with the unification of three existing cities; Buda, Óbuda and Pest. The city is known for its historical sites such as the chain bridge. It’s also known as the thermal bath city of the world, with some 70 million litres of thermal water being produced each day. Another quirky fact is that the city has one of the oldest metros in Europe and has some 200 caverns beneath the city.
