Medical Universities in Romania
Study Medicine at the Medical and Pharmaceutical University Carol Davila
The study of medicine in Bucharest begins with a two-year preclinical study section followed by clinical studies. Carol Davila University of Medicine is the oldest university in Romania and a degree from this prestigious university is recognised across the EU, UK, USA and internationally. Something to note is that the Romanian academic year starts early October and ends at the end of May. The courses at Carol Davila are conducted in English for the first two years but students have the opportunity to learn Romanian so that they can communicate with patients effectively.
As the capital of Romania, Bucharest is its largest city respectively. Between the world wars Bucharest was dubbed ‘Little Paris’ because of its beautiful 17th and 18th century architecture. When Romania gained independence in 1878 their very own Arc de Triomphe was erected. The name Buchracest comes from the Romanian
word ‘bucurie’ which means joy and so the city translates to ‘city of joy!’ The city’s skyline is blended with communist-era buildings and has many sites worth visiting such as the Palace of Parliaments (the world’s biggest parliament building), the old town (centru Vechi), picturesque library (Carturesti Carusel), and perhaps if you’re brave enough learn about the inspiration for Stoker’s Dracula, Vlad the Impaler.
