The Jessenius Faculty of Medicine in Martin was established in 1962 and in 1969 it became integrated with Comenius university. In addition to General Medicine, the university offers Dentistry, Nursing, Midwifery and Public Health. This faculty was the first in Slovakia to offer medical studies taught in English starting from 1991. JFMED has three prestigious centres including the Centre of Excellence for Perinatal Research, Centre of Experimental and Clinical Respirology and Centre of Excellence for Research in Personalized Therapy

Study Medicine at Jessenius Faculty of Medicine

Degrees begin in September each year and the duration of the course is six years. The course follows a structure of theoretical, preclinical and clinical teaching. Medical degrees from JFMED are recognised by WHO and the EU and students often go on to practice medicine across the globe.

The Jessenius Faculty of Medicine is located in Martin, a city in Northern Slovakia. It is located on the Turiek river and lies around 400 metres above sea level with the Malá Fatra and Veľká Fatra mountains nearby.
