Study Medicine at the University of Ostrava
The medical school offers a six-year degree in General Medicine. The course is separated into three sections. The first two foundational years cover biology, physics, anatomy and other fundamental scientific subjects. The third year of studies includes pre clinical training in Pathophysiology, Pathology and prepares students for their clinical work in year four and five. The final year includes practical training such as working with experienced doctors in a clinical setting. During the course, students will complete nine weeks of practical training, allowing students to experience what life is truly like as a professional doctor.
Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic. It lies between the Oder and Ostravice river which is where its name originates from. The city is known as the “steel heart” of the country. In 2000, Ostrava became the administrative centre of the newly established Ostrava Region, today’s Moravian-Silesian Region.
