Study Medicine at the Charles University Pilsen
The Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen offers six year degrees in medicine. For medical students, the first two years of study are devoted to theoretical disciplines, such as Anatomy, Histology, Embryology, Biophysics, Biochemistry and Physiology. During the third and fourth years, pre-clinical subjects, such as Pathological Anatomy, Pathological Physiology, Microbiology, Immunology and Pharmacology are studied.Teachers at the Faculty of Medicine in Pilsen play a significant role in patient care at the University Hospital in Pilsen, which registers more than 55,000 patients every year.
Located in the west of the country, Pilsen was founded in 1295 by King Wenceslas the second. It has always been an important centre for trade. The historic town centre was granted heritage status in 1989 and has sites such as Gothic St. Bartholomew’s Cathedral and Renaissance City Hall. The city is surrounded by woodlands and Pilsner beer owers its namesake to the city, as a Bavarian brewer created the world-famous brew here 1842
